The mobile phone has become an integral part of our lives, and in most cases, is a pervasive technology that is ever present regardless of where we are. It is also the ultimate business tool, where users can be in constant touch with their office and systems. In Europe, on average 75% (Source: Netsize) of the population have a mobile phone, and this rises to 92% in some countries. While the USA and Japan are somewhat behind Europe with 60% and 68% respectfully, there is still a large proportion of the population who own or use a mobile phone. The Chinese market is only at 40% penetration with some 460 million subscribers with either GPRS or CDMA connectivity, compared with the 150 million having access to the Internet. The number of mobile phone users in China is predicted to grow to 1 billion users by 2009.

Concept Data Technologies has developed unique technologies for the mobile phone that enables the 3rd generation of m-Commerce capable applications. Heretofore, transacting commerce via the mobile phone was performed using 1st generation technology WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). This approach had a number of significant difficulties including its performance, cost of operation and most importantly, lack of security. The 2nd generation of products is based on SMS which did address some of the limitations of WAP, but crucially not the issues of cost and security. The 3rd generation of products from Concept Data Technologies addresses all of the issues inherent with the previous generations.
